Doubt Your Doubts

Aug 23, 2026    Pastor James A. Young

What if the very thing holding us back from everything God has promised is something we rarely recognize as a spiritual threat? This message pulls back the curtain on one of the most deceptive strongholds we face: doubt. Drawing from Matthew 21, where Jesus points to a mountain and tells his disciples they can speak to it and see it move, we are challenged to examine where doubt has quietly taken root in our minds, our hearts, and our everyday decisions. The message makes a striking distinction that faith does not deny the size of the mountain in front of us. Instead, faith refuses to measure that mountain without including God in the equation. Just as the nation of Israel and a young shepherd named David stood on the same battlefield staring at the same giant and came to completely opposite conclusions, our mindset determines whether we see obstacles or opportunities. When we filter life through our own limited ability and resources, doubt wins. But when we bring God into the equation, the entire landscape changes. We are invited this morning to stop agreeing with the obstacle and start speaking to it, because the mountain does not get to define what God is capable of doing.
